The Manager of the International Monetary Fund on an official visit in Cameroon

The General Manager of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde has started her first official visits of 2016. She arrived Nigeria on Monday January 04, 2016 where she met with President Muhammadu Buhari as well as other senior officials in Abuja.

From there, she went on to Cameroon to meet with President Paul Biya and his economic team and officials of the private sector. She also held a meeting with Finance Ministers of six member countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) is equally anticipated.

Regarding her visit to Cameroon, Christine said: “The country and the entire CEMAC region are facing the double shock of the fall in oil prices and safety disturbances. Strengthening regional integration and implementing ambitious reform programmes in the CEMAC countries will be crucial in ensuring macroeconomic stability and restoring a strong and inclusive growth in the region”.

Her African tour  ended on the 9th of January.
